Secondary 2 Math Tuition in Singapore

Strengthening Foundations • Advancing Skills • Gaining Confidence

As students progress to Secondary 2, the pace of Mathematics increases and more advanced ideas are introduced. Concepts such as quadratic expressions, trigonometry, three-dimensional measurement, algebraic fractions and data interpretation become part of the core. At Kindle Cove, we guide each student through this critical stage with patience, structure and encouragement. Our Secondary 2 Math tuition programme helps students consolidate foundation work from Sec 1, bridge any gaps, and prepare confidently for upper secondary.

What Your Child Will Learn

Our lessons follow the official MOE Secondary 2 Mathematics syllabus for the Express level, covering deeper topics in Numbers & Algebra, Geometry & Measurement, and Statistics & Probability. We teach with clarity, ensuring students not only know the math but understand it and can apply it.

Numbers & Algebra

Students move into more advanced algebraic thinking and explore how algebra connects different areas of mathematics. Key topics include:

  • Expansion and factorisation of quadratic expressions and use of special identities.

  • Algebraic fractions and manipulation of formulae.

  • Linear equations and inequalities, including two‐variable linear equations and simultaneous linear equations.

  • Graphs of linear and quadratic functions, interpretation of graphs, coordinate geometry.

  • Direct and inverse proportion.

  • Number sequences and nth term (to the extent indicated by syllabus).

Geometry & Measurement

In Sec 2, students go beyond flat shapes to reason about three-dimensional forms, similarity, trigonometry and measurement. Topics include:

  • Congruence and similarity of shapes.

  • Pythagoras’ theorem and its applications in two‐dimensional contexts.

  • Introduction to trigonometric ratios (sine, cosine, tangent) in right-angled triangles.

  • Volume & surface area of three-dimensional figures such as pyramids, cones, spheres (depending on stream) and mensuration of composite solids.

  • Scaling, map scales, unit conversions, and measurement in context.

Statistics & Probability

Students broaden their understanding of data and chance, interpreting results, and making reasoned conclusions. Topics include:

  • Data representation: histograms, dot diagrams, stem‐and‐leaf, tables, frequency distributions.

  • Measures of central tendency (mean, median, mode) including for grouped data.

  • Probability of single events, and elements of real‐world context in probability.
